Northern Irelands longest running mental health arts festival. Join us in May 2026 for our 13th year celebrating the arts and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. ​

SHORT FILM OPEN CALL

The NI Mental Health Arts Festival (NIMHAF) is a festival dedicated to challenging the stigma about mental health, empowering and celebrating creativity, with compassion and dignity across communities, one conversation at a time. NIMHAF is currently operating a call for short films to be screened at our 2026 festival. This year the festival runs from the 8th-15th of May and centres on the theme of Belonging.

 

The open call will close on the 20th of March.

 

Eligibility criteria:

  • Films must be under ten minutes long.

  • Filmmakers must be living in Northern Ireland.

  • Films may be fiction or non-fiction.

  • Films must connect to our 2026 Festival theme, Belonging.

  • Must relate to our organisational mission: to challenge the stigma around mental health and celebrate creativity.
