In this pre-recorded workshop for NI Mental Health Arts Fest, Dr Janelle Jukin will take us through a Music Therapy approach to Mindfulness.
Janelle S Junkin, PhD, MT-BC is a researcher, consultant, and music therapist. She is an expert in developing monitoring and evaluation systems, is a facilitator and programmatic consultant. Her clinical and research centers, globally and nationally, on community music therapy, conflict transformation, and identity development. She founded Orchestral Dialogues: Musicking with Community. She has completed research/evaluation and consultation with the Armed Services Arts Partnership, MindLeaps, The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians and has consulted with organizations and companies to build their own internal Monitoring and Evaluation systems. Dr. Junkin has worked in 15 countries on five continents. She is published in the Journal of Applied Arts & Health and the International Journal of Education & the Arts. Her most recent book chapter was published in Healing Through the Arts for Non Clinical Practitioners, August 2018. Her areas of research include child and youth identity development, the role of the arts in conflict transformation, and understanding the community arts and creative arts therapies as vehicles that provide hope and healing to people and communities in crisis.
